Christopher W. Zeller

Christopher is one of the few individuals in the Information Technology arena today whose career began as a computer operator and has grown to include hardware configuration, networking systems, programming, systems analysis, database design, and systems management.

His career began in 1980 as a computer operations specialist with the Strategic Air Command operating four large Honeywell mainframes.  His duties there included the support of the National Command Authorities online database and the SAC ARPANET, which maintained the strategic missile and bomber information for the military’s TRIAD defense system.  He quickly learned his operations duties, and began taking on additional responsibilities assisting the in-house field engineers in hardware troubleshooting and resolution, and systems analysts/programmers with software debugging.  His abilities were quickly recognized by his supervisors and peers, and by his second year was given the responsibility as systems supervisor; a position normally maintained by individuals three ranks above him.

After Chris’ hitch in the Air Force, he went to work for the Technical arm of the Direct Marketing Group (the largest Direct Marketing Agency in the world).  It was there that he began to appreciate the technologies used in direct marketing.

In-house systems were generally used for list processing and bulk mailing in batch mode; processing over one million direct mailings per day.  After only one year, Christopher was invited to be involved in the development of a new concept, today called Customer Relationship Marketing.  These concepts were radical at the time, but are now considered de facto standards in the industry.

In 1986, Christopher became an independent consultant and began work developing systems initially for catalog management and direct mail.  His experiences since then have included systems development in the healthcare, financial, telemarketing, manufacturing, distribution, inventory control, and retail sectors.  He joined DOX in 1987.

Christopher is currently Technical Director for DOX, Inc.  His most recent endeavors have been, directing the design, development and integration of LINUX/WINDOWS network operating environments, Database Management Systems, E-Mail, Data Warehousing, and web-enabled applications for DOX clients.
